Who organizes the CS2 Shanghai Major in China?
The main organizer of the Shanghai tournament was Chinese company Perfect World, which marked its Major debut for CS2. It’s not surprising that Perfect World partners with PGL which is famous for hosting several big events, including PGL Major Copenhagen. The two companies have a three-year strategic partnership, with PGL responsible for English-language broadcasts.
Who will take part in the next CS2 Major?
With one month remaining until the tournament, the list of participants is still unknown. The RMR tournament in November will serve as a qualifier. They’ll all be on LAN in Shanghai, so the team won’t be traveling anywhere else if they qualify.
We can expect twenty-four participants in this tournament. Here are the regional quotas:
- Europe: 14 teams (8 will start the tournament from the Elimination Round)
- Asia: 3 teams
- America: 7 teams
The distribution of slots between regions depends on the team’s performance in the previous Major. At the PGL Major Copenhagen, Asia and America took three slots from Europe. Therefore, teams play not only for themselves but also for their regional scene.

What is the top prize for the next CS2 Major?
Like the PGL Major Copenhagen, this event will feature a $1,250,000 million prize pool. The champion will receive $500,000, while the team eliminated in the opening stage will receive $10,000. The majority of team revenue will come from the stickers all Major participants receive, ensuring the prize pool does not add unnecessary stress, allowing for thrilling competitions, where players give their all on the server.
