Malayalam film 2018: Everyone is a Hero has been selected as India’s official entry for the Oscars 2024, the Film Federation of India announced on Wednesday.
The film was picked by the jury headed by filmmaker Girish Kasaravalli. 2018, directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, portrays the stories of resilience as the people of Kerala battled the floods of 2018. The film, selected for Best International Feature category, now needs to make it to the Academy Awards shortlist. Only three Indian films have made it to the final nominations so far—Mother India, Salaam Bombay and Lagaan.

2018 featured an ensemble cast of Tovino Thomas, Lal, Narain, Asif Ali, Kunchacko Boban, Indrans, Aparna Balamurali among others.
Films including Zwigato, The Kerala Story, Rocku Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani and Viduthalai Part 1 were among the final contenders.
The 96th Academy Awards will be held on March 10, 2024 in Los Angeles.
