Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’: Sandeep Reddy Vanga explores the toxic masculinity theme again

Makers of Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal released the much-awaited teaser on Thursday, to coincide with the actor’s birthday. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga explores the theme of toxic masculinity once again, after the much-talked about Arjun Reddy.

In Animal, the short teaser shares glimpses of the film which revolves around a father-son relationship, with Anil Kapoor playing the father and Ranbir his son. Rashmika Mandanna plays the film’s female lead, who is in for a rude shock when she addresses Anil’s toxic parenting style with Ranbir. This irks Ranbir and he defends his father, which is followed by a scene in which a younger Ranbir is being slapped by his father.

The teaser also suggests that Ranbir’s character further undergoes a drastic transformation into a gritty violent persona, much like the title of the film. Animal, Ranbir’s second release this year after romantic drama Tu Jhooti Main Makkar.

The film, which also features Bobby Deol, is expected to be one high on drama and action. Animal arrives in theatres on December 1.
