Kannada star Shivarajkumar has apologised to Tamil actor Siddharth after the latter had to walk out of a press meet in Bengaluru recently following protests from pro-Kannada outfits.
Actor Siddharth, was in Bengaluru on September 28 to promote his recent film Chithha and he had reportedly organised a special screening of the film for presspersons in the city. However, as the actor was interacting with the press, a few members of pro-Kannada outfits walked in and disrupted the press meet. The protesters asked the actor to stop the press meet and the actor had to walk out of the event midway. The actor, who is also the film’s producer said he incurred a huge loss later in an Instagram live.
The actor said he had plans to screen the film to Kannada stars that night but had to cancel it owing to the bandh. However, Kannada actors came in support of Siddharth and expressed regret over the incident.
Kannada star Shivarajkumar in a public meeting apologised to the actor for the incident. “On behalf of our industry, I am very sorry Siddharth. Ours is a land that loves and enjoys all languages,” NDTV reported quoting the actor. Shivarajakumar urged that Karnataka and Tamil Nadu should come together to resolve Cauvery issue without hurting sentiments.
Earlier, actor Prakash Raj also expressed regret over the incident. “Instead of questioning all the political parties and its leaders for failing to solve this decades-old issue… instead of questioning the useless parliamentarians who are not pressurising the centre to intervene… Troubling the common man and Artists like this can not be accepted.. as a Kannadiga .. on behalf of Kannadigas. Sorry,” the actor tweeted.
